FINAL ROSTERS SET FOR NORTHERN LEAGUE ALL-STAR GAME

2009 Northern League Field of All-Stars Game to Feature Five Replacement Players

JOLIET, IL-The Northern League of Professional Baseball has announced the additions to the 2009 Northern League Field of All-Stars Game presented by Farmers Insurance to be played on Tuesday, July 7 at 7:05 p.m. at Silver Cross Field. LHP Ryan Paul (Joliet) and LHP Tony Cogan (Gary) have been added to the Great Lakes (Joliet, Gary and Schaumburg) All-Star team. RHP Daniel Sattler (Kansas City), IF Mark Minicozzi (Kansas City) and OF Greg Jacobs (Kansas City) have been added to the Great Plains (Kansas City, Fargo-Moorhead, and Winnipeg) All-Star Squad.

Paul is third in the league in appearances with 24 out of the Joliet bullpen. He has a 1-3 record with a 3.54 ERA. Cogan is 3-5 with a 5.05 ERA for the RailCats. They replace Joliet LHP Brad Mumma and Schaumburg RHP Craig James, who will miss the game with respective injuries.

Sattler is 1-2 with a sparkling 1.86 ERA out of manager Andy McCauley’s bullpen in Kansas City. Minicozzi is batting .248 with 8 home runs and 27 RBI as the T-Bones starting short stop. Jacobs has been tearing up the Northern League with a .314 batting average, five home runs and 29 RBI in just 31 games played since returning from a stint in the Mexican League. They replace Winnipeg SS Wes Long, Fargo-Moorhead IF Randall Simon and OF Jeremiah Piepkorn, who are all nursing injuries.

Loose Gravel: Joliet JackHammers RHP Chad Blackwell has been named Northern League Pitcher of the Week for the week of games ending July 5. He went 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in 4 games last week, including a two-inning save in the JackHammers 7-4 win in Fargo-Moorhead on July 3. He allowed just one earned run over four innings worked last week.
