PINCKNEY POWERS THE JACKHAMMERS TO A 6-5 WIN IN 11 INNINGS
WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA-3B Andrew Pinckney (3-5) hit two of the Joliet JackHammers’ four solo home runs, including the game-winning RBI sacrifice fly to give the Joliet JackHammers (13-22) a 6-5 win over the Winnipeg Goldeyes (23-10) in 11 innings before 7,342 fans at CanWest Park on Monday afternoon. The Goldeyes scored three runs in the 1st inning against JackHammers RHP Jason
LF Dee Brown (3-5) hit an RBI single to score Asanovich for a 1-0
The JackHammers got on the board in the 4th inning. Pinckney led off the inning with hitting a line-drive, home run over the left field wall. It was the 7th home run of the season for Pinckney and brought the JackHammers within two runs at 3-1.
Pinckney smacked his second home run of the game in the 6th inning. He pulled a pitch from RHP Mark Michael over the right field wall to bring the JackHammers within one run at 3-2.
In the 8th inning, Joliet DH Tydus Meadows (2-6) hit a solo home run to tie the game at 3-3.
Brown gave the Goldeyes a 4-3 lead on a solo home run against LHP Ryan Paul in the bottom of the 8th inning.
With two outs in the 9th inning, JackHammers SS Kevin Rios (4-6) smacked a pitch over the left field wall for a 4-4 tied score.
In the 11th inning, Harris led off for the JackHammers and flew out to center field. Rios hit a one-out single and went to second base on a single by C Phil Avlas (1-3). The Goldeyes intentionally walked 1B Freddie Thon (1-5) to load the bases.
Meadows singled to score Rios from third base and give the JackHammers a 5-4 lead. Meadows’ single also pushed Avlas to third base, who scored on a sacrifice fly by Pinckney for a 6-4 lead.
RHP Drew Shetrone (2-0) allowed one run on one hit in two and one-thirds innings pitched to pick up the win.
