Kalamazoo, MI- Kalamazoo Kings' right-hander John Brownell tossed a complete-game one hitter Saturday night as the Kings defeated the Grizzlies 6-0 to even the best-of-five first round playoff series at one game apiece. The series shifts back to GCS Ballpark for games three and four Monday and Tuesday night.
Brownell carried went 7.1 innings before Carter McQuigg laced a double inside the third base line. Brownell struck out seven hitters, while walking just two.
The Kings knocked around Grizzlies' starter Devin Collis for five runs in just over two innings of work. Collis faced five hitters in the third without retiring a batter. He walked four and did not strike out a hitter. Shaun Seibert relieved Collis and tossed five shutout innings in relief. He gave up only two hits. He struck out five.
