SAUGET, IL- Brandon Peters broke a 4-4 tie with a three-run home run in the fifth inning Monday night to lift the Grizzlies to a 7-4 win over visiting Southern Illinois at GCS Ballpark.
The win trims the Grizzlies "magic number" to one to clinch the final playoff spot in the Frontier League.
The Grizzlies will secure the final playoff spot with a win, or a Traverse City loss in the final two regular season games.
Southern Illinois (57-37) took a 4-1 lead with a three-run third inning. Former Grizzlie Kevin House hit a two-run home run in the inning for the Miners.
The Grizzlies (50-44) answered with a three-run third inning to even the score. Alex Kerins doubled to drive in a pair. Former Miner Willie Keene capped the inning with an RBI-single to center to even the score at 4-4.
Peters finished 1-2 with the home run and four RBIs.
Shaun Seibert (4-1) earned the win in relief for the Grizzlies. Seibert tossed 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing only four hits. He struck out five and did not walk a hitter. Seibert followed starter Adam Revelette, who allowed four runs in 2.2 innings. Zack Gray pitched the final two innings for his team-leading ninth save.
