GRIZZLIES DROP SERIES TO KINGS
The Gateway Grizzlies scored three two-out runs in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday night, but it was simply too little too late. The Kalamazoo Kings defeated the Grizzlies 6-4, to win the best-of-five first round playoff series three games to one. It is the second consecutive year the Grizzlies' season has ended in the first round of the playoffs.
Breck Draper hit a three-run homer in the ninth to get the Grizzlies within two. Brandon Peters hit a solo homer in the first inning to open the scoring for the Grizzlies.
Kalamazoo built a 5-1 lead against Grizzlies starter Justin Lilly. Lilly lasted just 2.1 innings allowing five runs on three hits and five walks.
Kings' starter Trent Lare allowed just a run on four hits in eight innings of work. He struck out six.
