'fish surge past revs
Bridgeport, CT – September 2nd – The Bridgeport Bluefish blew past the York Revolution with an 8-4 victory on Tuesday. Bridgeport took a seven-run lead early and never looked back. The win snapped a two-game losing skid for the 'Fish as they improve to 25-25 in the second half.
The Bluefish plated three runs in the second and four more in the third to take the early advantage. Luis Rodriguez and Henry Mateo drove in the first three runs and each finished with two RBIs. The offensive onslaught included 11 hits over the first 3.2 innings, finishing with 15 total on the night. Five of the starting Park City Nine recorded a multi-hit game led by Branden Florence's three-for-five night with an RBI, double and a run scored.
The York offense did not go silently into the night as they racked up 15 hits of their own. Mirroring the Bluefish production, the Revs also had five multi-hit performances in the game but fell short on the runs. York could not take advantage of their opportunities leaving 13 runners stranded on base.
Bluefish reliever Matt Pike (7-2) recorded the win in relief. He finished with two strikeouts, one walk and allowed three hits over his 2.1 innings pitched. Revolution starter Dave Gil (4-6) absorbed the loss, allowing seven runs (two earned) over his 2.2 innings.
The Bluefish wrap up the three-game set tomorrow at 7:05 P.M. Bridgeport sends Ryan DiPietro (4-5) to the mound in opposition of Rolando Viera (2-1).
