KINGS ROUT GRIZZLIES
SAUGET,IL- The Kalamazoo Kings scored six times in the first three innings Monday afternoon then sailed to a 13-2 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies in the rubber match of a three-game series at GCS Ballpark.
Grizzlies starter Shaun Siebert (0-1) gave up six runs in just three innings of work for his first loss. Coby Mavroulis allowed four runs in just an inning of relief work. Back-up catcher Breck Draper pitched the final five innings allowing only three runs on four hits. He struck out three.
One day after scoring 14 runs on 14 hits, the Grizzlies (36-33) managed just seven in the defeat. Carter McQuigg was 3-3 with a solo home run and two RBIs. He finished a triple-short of the cycle.
Jorge Araiza drove in four runs for the Kings (43-26).
