GOMES NAMED NORTHERN LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

JackHammers RF Batted .423 for the Week Ending August 10

 

JOLIET, IL-Joliet JackHammers RF Joey Gomes has been named Northern League Player of the Week for the week of August 4 to August 10. In the eight-game road trip that Joliet recently completed in Gary and Winnipeg, Gomes hit. 423 and led the league with 21 total bases and a .808 slugging percentage. The announcement was made by Northern League Director of Baseball Operations Harry Stavrenos.

 

Gomes played in all eight of the JackHammers games last week and got at least two hits in four of the eight games played. The Petaluma, CA native hit home runs in back-to-back games in Gary on August 4 and 5. He finished last week 11-26 with two home runs and three RBI.

Loose Gravel: Gomes becomes the second JackHammer to earn player of the week honors. OF Doc Brooks earned Northern League Player of the Week honors for the week ending July 27. RHP Aaron Trolia was also named the Northern League Pitcher of the Week on that date.
