REDHAWKS BEAT JACKHAMMERS 4-2 ON SUNDAY
JOLIET, IL- The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (52-31) scored three runs in the seventh inning to snap a 1-1 tied score and beat the Joliet JackHammers 4-2 before 3,029 fans at Silver Cross Field on Sunday night.
The JackHammers (36-47) scored a single run in the second inning on an RBI single by Nick Prosise (1-4). Joey Gomes (2-4) singled and moved to second base on a walk issued to Wally Backman, Jr. (0-2). Prosise hit an RBI single to score Gomes for a 1-0
The RedHawks scored a run in the third inning on an RBI single by Jimmy Hurst (2-5). Steve Mortimer (1-4) led off the inning with a walk and stole second base.
Fargo-Moorhead pushed across three runs in the seventh inning against Joliet RHP Chad Fillinger (3-5). Ruben Salazar (2-4) started off the inning with a walk and went to second base when
Jeff Eure (1-4) hit a two-run double to score
Perkins pitched six innings and allowed one run on seven hits. He walked three and struck out nine to get a “no-decision.”
The JackHammers mounted a rally in the eighth inning when Juan Diaz (1-3) hit a solo home run over the left field wall to get the JackHammers within two runs at 4-2.
