GRIZZLIES, WILDTHINGS SPLIT
The Gateway Grizzlies and Washington WildThings split a pseudo double-header Wednesday night at CONSOL Energy Park. The Grizzlies picked up a 7-6 win in the completion of a suspended game, then lost 10-4 in the nightcap.
The Grizzlies (25-22) fell behind quickly in the resumption of the suspended game. Grizzlies left-hander Joel Boeschen walked five hitters and allowed four runs in just one-third of an inning in relief and the Grizzlies trailed 6-1.
In the eighth inning, it was the Grizzlies who took advantage of the walk to tie the score at six. The Grizzlies scored five times on six walks, including four with the bases loaded.
Mike Breyman led off the ninth inning with his second home run of the game, and his 10th of the year to put the Grizzlies up for goof 7-6.
Coby Mavroulis (2-0) earned the win, getting the final four outs.
In the second game, the WildThings (24-22) jumped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and never trailed.
The Grizzlies scored three times in the second to cut the lead to 4-3, but would get no closer. Washington scored five runs in the second to chase Grizzlies' starter Adam Revelette (2-2). Revelette gave up nine runs, three earned, in just 1.2 innings.
Brandon Scott pitched 3.1 innings in relief. He allowed a run on two hits in his first professional appearance on the mound.
Robbie Minor was 3-4. Michael Campbell added two RBIs for the Grizzlies.
