SAUGET, IL-The Gateway Grizzlies snapped a three-game losing streak with an 8-1 win over The Windy City Thunderbolts in front of 3,044 at GCS Ballpark.
Windy City (31-29) took a 1-0 lead when Justin Tellam connected for his second homer of the year in the third.
The Grizzlies (31-30) took over for good in the bottom of the inning. Stephen Holdren singled to right to drive in a pair and put the Grizzlies up 2-0. Alex Kerins and Chris Pecora each picked up bases loaded walks in the sixth to make it 4-1.
Michael Campbell dealt the biggest blow of the night one inning later. Holdren and Mike Breyman each singled with one out, before Manny Paula walked to load the bases for Campbell. Campbell drilled an 0-2 pitch from Windy City reliever Jason Lowey over the right field lawn to make it 8-1.
The homer was Campbell's ninth of the year and it was his second grand slam of the season. He finished 2-4 with the four RBIs.
Justin Lilly (5-2) earned the win for the Grizzlies. He allowed the single run on five hits over seven innings of work. He walked three and struck out three.
