GRIZZLIES ROUT SLIDERS FOR SERIES WIN

Michael Campbell homered and added five RBIs as the Grizzlies wrapped up the first-half of the 2008 season Sunday afternoon with a 15-2 defeat of the Midwest Sliders at GCS Ballpark.  The Grizzlies banged out a season-high 18 hits and scored a season-high 15 runs as they routed the Sliders for the second game in a row.

The Grizzlies (27-24) head into the All-Star break at worst tied for second place in the Frontier League West Division, just ½ game out of first.  At best the Grizzlies would be tied for first ½ game up.

Campbell capped a four-run first inning with a two-run double.  He added a three-run home run, his seventh of the year and second in as many games, in the second inning.

Ryne Malone was 3-5 with a two-run home run in the fifth.  He finished with four RBIs.  Stephen Holdren was 3-6 with a two-run single in the seventh inning.  Manny Paula was 2-5 with a pair of RBIs.

Erik Dessau (4-4) tossed seven innings, allowing a single run on five hits to earn the win.  He struck out six.  The win is the 30th of Dessau's Frontier League career, leaving him in fourth place on the league's all-time wins list.

Miguel Magrass was 2-4 with a home run in the loss for the Sliders (15-35).

The Frontier League's All-Star break takes place Monday-Thursday.  The Grizzlies are back in action Friday night at Evansville.  They will open a three-game series against the Otters at 7:05 p.m.
