GRIZZLIES DROP FINALE AT WASHINGTON
The Washington WildThings scored four runs in the fifth inning Thursday night on their way to a 8-3 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies. The WildThings won the final two games of the series.
Derek Blacksher (6-3) suffered the loss for the Grizzlies. Blacksher pitched five innings allowing seven runs, six earned, on nine hits.
The Grizzlies (25-23) took an initial 1-0 lead when Manny Paula singled to drive in a run in the second inning. Washington (25-22) answered with a run in the bottom of the inning.
Stephen Holdren made it 2-1 Grizzlies in the third inning when he singled to score Robbie Minor. Again the WildThings answered in the bottom of the inning to tie the score at two.
Holdren finished the night 2-4 with the RBI.
The WildThings took a 3-2 lead with a run in the fourth, before scoring four times on four hits in the fifth to go up 7-2. They would extend the lead to 8-2 in the seventh.
The Grizzlies tallied a run on a pair of hits in the ninth. Minor singled to drive in Chris Pecora.
Minor was 1-5 with the RBI and a stolen base. Pecora was 2-3.
