JACKHAMMERS BEAT FLYERS 8-3 ON THURSDAY
JOLIET, IL-RHP Vince Perkins (1-0) made his Joliet debut by pitching five inning scoreless innings as the Joliet JackHammers (33-33) scored six runs in the seventh inning to beat the Schaumburg Flyers 8-3 before 4,075 fans at Silver Cross Field on Thursday morning.

The JackHammers scored a run in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Cory Harris (2-4). Steve Garrabrants (2-4) led off the inning with a double and scored on a single by the JackHammers center fielder.
Six runs in the seventh inning increased the lead to 8-0. Mike Garcia (2-4) singled and went to second base on a wild pitch. Joe Hooft (2-4) grounded out to move Garcia to third base. Nick McIntyre (2-4) hit a sacrifice fly to right field to plate Garcia. Two batters later, Harris followed with an RBI single to score Doc Brooks (0-4). The JackHammers scored four more runs in the inning, including a two-run double by Wally Backman, Jr. (3-4) to lead 8-0.
The Flyers scored three runs in the ninth inning against RHP Chad Fillinger. Peanut Williams (1-3) hit a two-run home run to make it 8-3.
Loose Gravel: The JackHammers played their final game against the Flyers in 20008 on Thursday.
The JackHammers start a series with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. The JackHammers will host fireworks after the game sponsored by ARAMARK.
