FLYERS BEAT JACKHAMMERS 6-3 IN 12 INNINGS ON MONDAY
JOLIET, IL-The Joliet JackHammers (25-26) battled back to tie the Schaumburg Flyers (19-34) three times, including scoring a single run in the ninth inning to send the game to extra innings before the Flyers scored three runs in the 12th inning to beat the Joliet JackHammers 6-3 before 3,912 fans at Silver Cross Field on Monday night.

The JackHammers tied the game at 1-1 in the third inning. Nick McIntyre (2-6) hit a one-out double against Schaumburg RHP Steve Shippey. Mike Caruso (3-5) hit an RBI single to score McIntyre and tie the game.
In the fourth inning, the Flyers scored an unearned run to lead by a score of 2-1. Peanut Williams (3-6) hit a one-out double and moved to third on a past ball. Kurt Crowell (2-6) hit an RBI single to score Williams.
The Flyers went ahead 3-2 in the seventh inning. Rob Fischer (1-5) hit a triple to left field with one out. Dan Maycock (1-5) hit a single to score Fischer and give the Flyers a 3-2 lead.
The JackHammers scored a run in the ninth inning without the benefit of a hit. Steve Garrabrants (0-0) led off the inning with a walk and was lifted in favor of pinch-runner Dennis Blackmon, Jr. (0-0) A sacrifice bunt by Dorian Rojas (0-3) moved Blackmon, Jr. to second base. He went to third when Nick McIntyre (2-6) reached base on an error by Bo Hart. Caruso lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to score Blackmon, Jr. to tie the game at 3-3.
The two teams battled until the 12th inning when Flyers catcher Lance Koenig (0-3) worked a one-out walk and Mark Haske (2-5) singled. The Flyers executed a double steal to put both runners in scoring position. Hart was intentionally walked to load the base. Allensworth hit an RBI single to score Hart for a 4-3 Flyers lead. The Flyers scored two more runs against RHP Tyler Meigs to seal the victory.
Sevier pitched seven and two-thirds innings. He allowed just two earned runs on eight hits.
Loose Gravel: Monday’s game took four hours and twenty-one minutes to play. It is the longest game the JackHammers have played in the 2008 season. The previous high of four hours and 11 minutes occurred on June 22 in
