Liberty’s X-Treme Reading Team kicks off June 11th
Florence, KY – The Florence Freedom are excited to announce the first night for Liberty’s X-treme Reading Team is coming up on Wednesday, June 11th.
Liberty’s X-treme Reading Team is a new program for the 2008 season with Xavier University’s College of Social Sciences, Health and Education. Over 50 local schools participated during the school year. Kids read four books to earn a voucher for them to come to one (1) Wednesday night Freedom game this summer.
“We are really excited about this program,” said Elizabeth Quatman, the Freedom’s organizer of the program. “Over 20,000 vouchers have been given out to the participating schools so we are expecting a great turnout of kids every Wednesday night.”
Since the program has so many kids from various schools the Freedom are encouraging fans to come to the box office at Champion Window Field before the game Wednesday to avoid long ticket lines at game time. The vouchers are only good for the students who earned them. Parents must purchase tickets to the game for $8.00.
The other Wednesday games for Liberty’s X-treme Reading team are the following: June 18th, June 25th, July 2nd, July 9th (11:05 am start), July 30th, and August 13th.

The Florence Freedom are a member of the Frontier League, a 12-team Independent Professional Baseball League established in 1993. The Freedom play a 96 game schedule with 54 home games between late May and early September.
