FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 4, 2008
The Rotary Club of Kenton County will debut its “Nail Polio” fundraising campaign on June 6th at Champion Window Field. The Club will be raising money by using volunteers to paint fingernails for a dollar a nail. Funds raised will be used by Rotary International for its push to complete the eradication of polio, a crippling disease effecting mostly children.
Once a disease affecting the global community, polio is believed to remain in remote areas of only 4 Eastern countries. Rotary International has played a major role in nearly eliminating this disease from the face of the earth. Presently, the push is underway to meet that goal of complete eradication. For more information on Rotary International’s efforts please visit their website: www.rotary.org.
The Florence Freedom organization is facilitating these fundraising efforts to demonstrate their commitment to the community they serve. Club President-Elect, Matt Grimes, has been invited to throw out the ceremonial “first pitch” of the game scheduled against the Gateway Grizzlies. Of the Freedom’s efforts to promote the Club and its program, Grimes stated, “The Florence Freedom Organization continues to find ways to demonstrate its commitment to our community. It is a corporate citizen that continues to step up to the plate to show how it believes in the neighborhood of Northern Kentucky.”
The Rotary Club of Kenton County meets for lunch on Thursdays at the Colonial Cottage Restaurant, 3140 Dixie Highway in Erlanger. Various topics are discussed and the public is welcome to attend. A $12.00 charge includes lunch.
