GRIZZLIES TAKE GAME TWO FROM 'HAWKS
LOVES PARK, IL-The Gateway Grizzlies scored five runs in the first inning Tuesday night, then cruised to a 9-4 win over the Rockford RiverHawks at Road Ranger Stadium.
The Grizzlies (13-13) scored five times on three two-out hits in the first inning. Michael Campbell, John Alonso and Breck Draper each picked up RBIs in the inning.
Draper, making his professional debut, finished the night 2-5 with a pair of RBIs. Campbell was 3-4 with a pair of RBIs.
Erik Dessau (2-2) earned the win in his best start of the year. Dessau tossed eight innings, allowing four runs, one earned, on six hits. He struck out three and walked only one. The win was Dessau's 28th in his Frontier League career, moving him into sole possession of fifth place on the league's all-time wins list.
Rockford (12-14) scored unearned runs in the third and fourth innings to cut the lead to 6-2.
Mike Breyman homered leading off the seventh to extend the lead to 7-2. Charlie Lisk added his league-leading ninth home run of the year in the eighth to make it 9-2. Lisk also has a league-high 27 RBIs.
