GRIZZLIES WIN SECOND IN A ROW
The Gateway Grizzlies won their second consecutive game Saturday night, slipping by the Florence Freedom 6-5 in front of 1,751 at Champion Window Field in Florence, KY.
The win is the Grizzlies third on the road, and clinches their first road series win of the year.
The Grizzlies (7-10) scored five times with two outs in the sixth inning to take a 6-4 lead that they would never surrender. Travis Fultz hit his first professional home run to cut the Freedom lead to 4-2. Charlie Lisk added an RBI in the inning, as did newcomer John Alonso both with singles. Alonso was signed earlier in the day and started as the Grizzlies designated hitter.
Lisk finished the night 3-5 with the RBI and two runs scored.
The Grizzlies took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI hit by Michael Campbell. The Freedom (8-8) answered with a run of their own in the first inning. They scored another in the fourth and added two in the fifth inning on a two-run home run by Angel Molina. Molina finished with four RBIs against the Grizzlies.
Campbell was 2-4 with the RBI. Robbie Minor was also 2-4.
Brandon Williams (3-1) earned the win for the Grizzlies. Williams tossed six innings allowing four runs on eight hits. He struck out six. Robert Romero earned his third save in three nights. He pitched the ninth allowing a single hit.
