GRIZZLIES SWEEP OTTERS
Brandon Williams allowed one run over seven innings and the Grizzlies banged out a season-high 14 hits as they defeated the Evansville Otters 8-1 Sunday afternoon at GCS Ballpark. The win completed a three-game sweep for the Grizzlies, their first of the season.
Williams (2-1) allowed just five hits. He walked two and struck out four. Alex Merricks and Zack Gray each added an inning of perfect relief to close out the game.
The Grizzlies (4-8) scored four times in the first innings for the second time in as many nights. Ryne Malone hit his second lead off home run to set the tone early.
Evansville (9-3) scored their only run of the game on a groundout in the third inning.
The Grizzlies added two runs in the fourth inning on a two-run home run by Charlie Lisk-his league-leading fifth of the season. Mike Breyman hit his first home run of the year in the seventh to make it 7-1. The home run was Breyman's 59th career homer making him third all-time in league history. Lisk added his third RBI of the game on an eighth inning single to close out the scoring.
Malone was 3-4 with the home run. Lisk was 2-5 with the three RBIs. Lisk was 5-10 over the last two days with eight RBIs. Breyman finished the game 2-4 with the home run.
The Grizzlie take an off day Monday before beginning a six-game road trip. The Grizzlies will play the first of three in Chillicothe, OH Tuesday night. Game time is 6:05 p.m. central time.
