GRIZZLIES DROP FINALE TO THUNDERBOLTS
The Gateway Grizzlies dropped the finale of a three-game series to the Windy City Thunderbolts 6-3 Saturday night in front of 5,318 at GCS Ballpark.
Windy City (15-15) took an early lead with a pair of runs in the first inning, and never trailed.
The Grizzlies (14-16) cut into the lead with a run of their own in the first inning with a run on three hits. Charlie Lisk singled to drive in the run.
Stephen Holdren doubled in the fourth to drive in Mike Breyman to make it 4-2 Windy City. Breyman doubled to score Lisk in the fifth to cut the lead to 4-3, but that is as close as the Grizzlies would get.
Gateway stranded nine runners on base, including seven in scoring position. Twice the Grizzlies stranded the bases loaded.
Breyman, Lisk, Robbie Minor and Michael Campbell each had a pair of hits for the Grizzlies.
Justin Lilly suffered the loss, making his first professional start. Lilly allowed four runs over five innings of work. He did not walk a batter and struck out two.
