CAMPBELL LEADS GRIZZLIES PAST FREEDOM
Michael Campbell hit a pair of home runs and added four RBIs Friday night to lead the Gateway Grizzlies to a 6-2 win over the Florence Freedom. The win is the Grizzlies' fourth consecutive over Florence and came in front of 2,501 at GCS Ballpark.
Campbell tied the game at one with a solo home run in the fourth inning. Campbell added a three-run shot in the fifth inning to put the Grizzlies up 5-1. Both long balls came off Freedom starter Chris Ingoglia, who has lost two straight starts to the Grizzlies (10-12).
Charlie Lisk added an RBI, his 19th of the year, in the fifth inning. Ryne Malone drove in a run with a squeeze bunt in the sixth inning.
Brandon Williams earned his team-leading fourth win of the year. He struck out a season-high nine hitters in six innings of work. He allowed one win on four hits.
The Freedom (11-11) got a pair of solo home runs. Ryan Basham hit his fourth in the third. John Welch added his fifth in the eighth inning.
The Grizzlies and the Freedom continue the series with a 7:05 p.m. game Saturday night at GCS Ballpark.
