dubose fuels bluefish to victory
Bridgeport, CT – June 14th – The Bridgeport Bluefish snapped a three-game losing skid with a 5-3 victory over the Somerset Patriots. Eric DuBose (2-2) posted his best start of the season to help the Bluefish improve to 25-23 on the season. Somerset drops to 28-19. The game was called after the top of the eighth inning due to rain.
DuBose only suffered through one bad inning in which he gave up the three Pats runs. The Bluefish southpaw carried a perfect game into the fifth inning until Ryan Radmanovich drilled a single up the middle with two outs. After a Travis Anderson single, infielder Jason Belcher launched a three-run jack over the wall in right field to tie the game at three. DuBose only allowed two hits outside of the fifth inning. He finished with an eight-inning complete game with two walks and ten batters fanned.
Branden Florence, Brian Munhall and Henry Mateo all recorded two hits in the contest for the Bluefish. Bobby Darula started the Bluefish scoring in the second inning with an RBI double. Mateo had two doubles on the night while Florence drove in two.
Patriots' starter Steve Kelly (4-4) pitched a seven-inning complete game in the shortened contest and allowed five runs on nine hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Radmanovich finished the night two-for-three with a run scored to lead Somerset.
The Bluefish will look to take the series in the rubber match tomorrow at 2:05 P.M. Matt Pike will bring his 5-1 record to the hill for the Bluefish to face Brian Adams (3-2) of Somerset.
