BLACKSHER PITCHES GRIZZLIES PAST PAINTS
Derek Blacksher tossed 8.2 innings Tuesday night to lead the Grizzlies to a 3-1 victory over the Chillicothe Paints in front of 3,195 at GCS Ballpark. The win is the Grizzlies' fourth in a row.
Blacksher allowed just the one run on five Paints' hits. He walked one and struck out a season-high eight. Blacksher had not allowed a run, when he left in the ninth with two runners on base.
Travis Fultz and John Alonso each hit home runs in the game for the Grizzlies. Ryne Malone drove in the third run for Gateway.
The Grizzlies (9-10) managed just five hits of their own against a pair of Chillicothe pitchers.
Adrian Cantu had three hits for Chillicothe (8-10). Jaziel Mendoza had the only RBI with a ninth inning single.
The Grizzlies and Paints continue the series with a 7:05 p.m. game Wednesday night at GCS Ballpark.
