FLYERS BEAT JACKHAMMERS 10-3 ON THURSDAY

JOLIET, IL- The Schaumburg Flyers (16-23) scored seven runs over the seventh and eighth innings to beat the Joliet JackHammers 10-3 before 4,532 fans at Silver Cross Field on Thursday night. The JackHammers (18-20) will welcome the Kansas City T-Bones to Silver Cross Field for a three-game series beginning on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. at Silver Cross Field in Joliet City Center.

The Flyers scored one run in the first inning against Joliet starter Aaron Trolia (5-2). Bo Hart (1-3) reached base on a fielder’s choice and stole second base. Vince Harrison (4-5) hit an RBI single to score Hart for a 1-0 Flyers lead.

Schaumburg scored two runs in the third inning with two outs on the board. Hart hit a double and scored on a single by Harrison. After Kurt Crowell (1-4) walked to move Harrison to second base, Chris Gaskin (3-3) hit an RBI single to score Harrison for a 3-0 Flyers lead.

The JackHammers scored their first run of the game in the fifth inning. Wally Backman, Jr. (1-4) led off the inning with a double and went to third base on a single by Joe Hooft (3-4). Backman, Jr; who went to third base on the single by Hooft, scored on a sacrifice fly by Mike Caruso (1-3) to get the JackHammers within two runs at 3-1.

The Flyers scored two more runs in the seventh inning before putting up five in the eighth inning. Trolia started the game for the JackHammers and suffered the loss. He allowed three runs on eight hits while walking four and striking out four.

Loose Gravel: The game featured an appearance from LHP Craig Pfautz, who logged his first outing since June 13 when he took on Winnipeg at Silver Cross Field. He pitched a scoreless ninth inning.

Joliet welcomes in Kansas City for game one of a three-game series on Friday night. David Moraga (4-1, 4.24) takes the hill for Joliet against Rick Rivas (2-3, 7.41) for Kansas City. The JackHammers will host fireworks after the game presented by ARAMARK.
