GRIZZLIES DROP RAIN-SHORTENED GAME TO RASCALS
The River City Rascals defeated the Gateway Grizzlies 5-3 Sunday night in a game that was halted due to rain in the bottom of the sixth inning. The loss is the third in a row for the Grizzlies.
River City scored three runs in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead against Grizzlies starter Matt Falk (0-1). Falk lasted just four innings.
The Grizzlies got a pair of runs back in the top of the fourth. A sacrifice fly by Charlie Lisk and an RBI-single by Manny Paula put the Grizzlies on the board.
River City got RBIs from Jacob Deboer and Phil Laurent in the fourth to lead 5-2. Each player had four RBIs for the Rascals.
Michael Campbell added an RBI for the Grizzlies in the top of the fifth, which turned out to be the last inning of the night. The teams could not complete the sixth before the delay so the inning does not count.
Rascals' starter Mike Castrignano (1-0) earned the win and the complete game in his first pro outing. He struck out sixth.
The Grizzlies and the Rascals will complete the series with a 7:05 game Monday night at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O'Fallon, MO.
