GRIZZLIES DROP FIFTH STRAIGHT
The Gateway Grizzlies dropped their fifth consecutive game Tuesday night 8-1 to the Southern Illinois Miners at Rent One Park in Marion, IL.
The Grizzlies did not lose more than four games in a row at any point during the 2007 season.
Three errors led to seven unearned runs against Grizzlies pitcher Brandon Williams (1-1). Williams tossed five innings, allowing the eight runs on nine hits. He walked three and struck out four. The three errors and seven runs all came in the fifth and sixth innings. Adam Revelette contributed three shutout innings in relief. He did not allow a hit but walked two.
The Grizzlies managed just four hits. Michael Campbell, Charlie Lisk, Robbie Minor and Al Barbato each had a single hit. Stephen Holdren scored the only run of the game for the Grizzlies in the fourth inning. After walking to lead off the inning and later stealing third, he scored on a throwing error by Miners' catcher Jake Smith.
The Grizzlies and the Miners continue the series Wednesday night with a 7:05 p.m. game in Marion, IL.
