GRIZZLIES BULLPEN WOES CONTINUE

The River City Rascals scored nine times in the sixth inning and held on to beat the Grizzlies 11-4 Saturday night at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O'Fallon, MO.

The Grizzlies (1-3) held a 2-0 lead when starter Derek Blacksher (0-1) gave up a hit and a walk to start the inning, before Brad Hough connected for a three-run home run to give River City (1-3) a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

River City would add six more runs in the inning, and two in the seventh against an ailing Grizzlies bullpen.  The bullpen has now allowed 27 total runs in 14.2 innings over four games.

Blacksher had pitched five shutout innings and didn't allow a baserunner until a one out double in the fourth by Hough.  Blacksher struck out seven in five-plus innings.

Charlie Lisk opened the scoring with his second home run of the year, a solo shot, to lead off the third.  Stephen Holdren drove in a pair of runs for the Grizzlies.  Holdren was 1-3 with the two RBIs.  Michael Campbell drove in the other run.  He was 2-4 with a pair of singles.

The Grizzlies and the Rascals continue the series with a 6:05 game Sunday evening at T.R. Hughes Ballpark.
