hoorelbeke bites back at the riversharks
Bridgeport, CT – May 31st – Defending Atlantic League Co-MVP Jesse Hoorelbeke sent his Bridgeport Bluefish teammates into frenzy when he jacked a walk-off three-run home run to defeat the Camden Riversharks 9-8. Camden has now lost six straight games while the Bluefish move back over .500 at 18-17 for the first time since May 14th.
Hoorelbeke finished the night two-for-five with four RBIs. In addition to the walk-off he also hit an RBI double in the seventh inning to bring his team within one run. Hoorelbeke's game-ending blast plated Alex Prieto, two-for-four on the night, and Luis Lopez, four-for-five.
Alec Zumwalt (0-1) is charged with his first loss of the season. He pitched .2 innings with three runs on three hits including Hoorelbeke's bomb to left-center field. Bluefish reliever Jeff Tam (2-1) needed just one pitch in relief of Chad Bentz to record the final out in the top of the ninth to earn the win.
Riversharks' outfielder Nic Jackson continued his barrage of Bluefish pitching with a three-for-six night at the dish with one run scored. Josh Rabe continued to fire up the middle of the Camden lineup with a two-for-five showing and a two-run homer in the third. L.J. Biernbaum also recorded three hits on the evening.
The Bluefish go for the series sweep tomorrow night when they send Barry Hertzler to the hill to face Brian Lawrence of Camden.
