The JackHammers to Hold Open Try-Outs at Silver Cross Field

JOLIET- The Joliet JackHammers will be holding an open try-out at Silver Cross Field on Saturday, April 26^th with call backs set for Sunday, April 27. The JackHammers new manager, Wally Backman, and coaching staff will be running the try-out. Registration begins at 8:00am on the 26^th with the try-out starting at 9:00 am, Those wishing to pre-register may call the JackHammers front office at (815)726-2255 ext. 0. The registration fee will be $25 per participant. The JackHammers ask that all participants bring their own equipment and all participants must sign a waiver to try-out.

“The JackHammers are excited to host this open try-out” says General Manager Kelly Sufka. “It gives players from the region that are not able to make the League try-out in California an opportunity to get in front of the JackHammers coaching staff and show them what they’ve got. I am sure there are going to be some pulled muscles and some bruised egos, but it gives everyone a shot that wants one.”

Loose Gravel: The JackHammers currently have full season seats, mini-plan packages and group outings available for the 2008 season. The JackHammers play a 96-game schedule as a member of the Northern League of Professional Baseball. The league is entering it’s 16^th season as the premier independent league in the country. Over 600 former Northern League players have been signed by Major League Organizations, and have played affiliated baseball.
