NCAA BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS COMING TO GCS BALLPARK
The Gateway Grizzlies, members of the Frontier League, are proud to announce that the NCAA Division II Men's Baseball Championship will be held at their home facility, GCS Ballpark in Sauget, IL. May 24-31, 2008.
The NCAA Division II Championships Committee has approved the recommendation of the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee that Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and the University of Missouri-St. Louis co-host the event in conjunction with the Gateway Grizzlies and the Village of Sauget.
"This is a great event and we're thrilled to be a part of it," Grizzlies General Manager Tony Funderburg said. "The NCAA has a history of putting on great events and we're proud they have chosen to partner with us."
The Grizzlies and GCS Ballpark have previously hosted Division II's Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Tournament three times, and will host again in 2008. Both SIUE and UMSL are members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Webster University, a Division III school located in St. Louis, plays its home games at GCS Ballpark.

Fans will be able to purchase All-Tournament passes for a cost of $40.00 a seat beginning Monday March 17 at 9:00 a.m. Box seating only will be available during the pre-sale. Individual game tickets, including general admission lawn seating will be available at a later date.
About GCS Ballpark:
The facility is located along Interstate 255 in Sauget, IL and was completed in time for the 2002 baseball season at a cost of $6.5 Million. It has seating for 6,000 and features box seating, bleacher seats and general admission lawn seating. It also features 12 "party suites" located on the second deck of the park. GCS Ballpark hosts more than 150 events each year. The ballpark was chosen as Digital Ballpark.com's Ballpark of the Year in 2005. Aside from the Gateway Grizzlies season, numerous high school and colleges play games at the facility. More than 1 Million fans have made their way to GCS Ballpark for Gateway Grizzlies games alone.
About the Gateway Grizzlies:
The Grizzlies are members of the independent Frontier League of Professional Baseball. 2008 will mark the team's eighth in the league. During their time, the Grizzlies have won one Frontier League title, in 2003. They have won the league's West Division twice and have made three trips to the post-season.
