Florence Freedom and Classic Country 106.5 WNKR

team up to Broadcast 2008 Baseball Season

 

Florence, KY – The Florence Freedom are proud to announce the organization has reached a radio broadcast agreement with Classic Country 106.5, WNKR for the 2008 Freedom baseball season. 

 

WNKR serves Northern Kentucky and is locally owned and operated.  The station features classic country music and also carries University of Kentucky and SEC football and basketball broadcasts. 

 

"WNKR is Northern Kentucky Radio. We live and breathe the area,” said WNKR General Manager Jeff Ziesmann.  “Over the past couple of years we have been especially impressed with the work of Clint Brown and the Freedom staff to bring high quality professional baseball to the region. Making the Florence Freedom broadcasts part of our Northern Kentucky oriented program schedule was a logical and overdue step. We look forward to bringing the Freedom games to a larger audience throughout the area."

 

Freedom fans can listen live to all 96 games on Classic Country 106.5 as well as pre-game and post-game shows.  An internet link will also be available to fans on www.florencefreedom.com, which will be posted prior to the start of the 2008 season.

 

“We are excited about this new radio affiliation in 2008,” mentioned Freedom General Manager Kari Rumfield, “WNKR has a strong sports listener base and roots in Northern Kentucky, I am sure this will be a mutually beneficial relationship.”

 

Freedom Broadcaster Roger Redmon returns for his third season as the “Voice of the Freedom”.  Redmon was named 2007 Frontier League Broadcaster of the Year. 

 

The Florence Freedom open the 2008 season on Wednesday, May 21st at Champion Window Field.  Season tickets, group outings and ticket mini plans are on sale now.

 

 

 

 

Florence Freedom is a member of the Frontier League, a 12-team Independent Professional Baseball League established in 1993. The Freedom play a 96 game schedule with 51 home games between late May and early September.
