PAIR OF GRIZZLIES HONORED BY BASEBALL AMERICA

The Gateway Grizzlies are proud to announce that a pair of Grizzlies players has been recognized by Baseball America.   The twice-monthly publication named centerfielder Jonathan Armitage and first baseman Mike Breyman to the All-Independent Leagues Team Second Team, announced Wednesday.

It is the first time any Grizzlies players have been recognized on the magazine's annual list.

Armitage led the Grizzlies in hitting during the 2007 season, with a .336 batting average, which was good for fifth in the Frontier League.  He added 18 home runs and 59 RBIs.  Armitage led the Frontier League with a .452 on-base percentage.  He was second in the league with a .599 slugging percentage.  He was tops among all Frontier League outfielders with a .994 fielding percentage.  Armitage committed just a single error in 158 total chances in centerfield.

Breyman enjoyed his fourth successful season with the Grizzlies in 2007.  Breyman was second on the club, and eighth in the Frontier League, with a .331 batting average.  He was third on the team, and the league with 22 home runs.  He was fourth on the club with 70 RBIs.  Breyman was third in the Frontier League with a .435 on-base percentage.  He finished the season with 58 career home runs, which leaves him tied for third all-time in Frontier League history.
