Gary, IndianaJason Shelley allowed just one earned run over seven and two-thirds innings and Nate Price delivered a pinch hit single to drive in the tie-breaking run in the sixth inning as the Gary SouthShore RailCats edged the Calgary 4-3 on Saturday night in game four of the Northern League Championship Series.  The RailCats win forces the deciding game five of the series on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in a winner-take-all scenario.  A crowd of 1,629 attended the game at U. S. Steel Yard.

The RailCats will send Northern League Pitcher of the Year Willie Glen (12-1, 3.03) to the mound on Sunday against Calgary's Jeff Groeger (3-3, 5.84).

After a crushing loss on Friday night in which the RailCats took a lead to the ninth but lost for the second time in the series, Shelley responded by allowing just five hits and two runs (one earned) with one walk and eight strikeouts before leaving with two outs in the eighth.  Tony Cogan, who had blown two saves in the series, struck out the only two batters he faced to record his fourth save of the post-season.

Calgary scored in the second inning when Drew Miller doubled and Jorge Tang singled him in from second with two outs to make it 1-0.

The RailCats took the lead with two runs in the third.  Tanner Townsend walked to start the inning and Mike Reese followed with a triple to center to tie the game.  Eric McNamee singled to center to drive in Reese and make it 2-1.

Calgary scored in the fifth on Darryl Brinkley's single to right to bring in Tang from second base to tie the game.

In the Gary sixth, Jose Yepez walked to start the inning and went to second on Jermaine Allensworth's sacrifice.  One batter later, Price, pinch hitting for Reese, hit a hard ground ball through the middle to bring in Yepez and give the RailCats a 3-2 lead.

Jim Crowell replaced Shelley on the mound in the eighth with two outs and a runner at second, but threw only one pitch and got Jason Colson to ground out to first to end the inning.

Right-hander David Byard started the ninth on the mound for the RailCats and got Kyle Nichols to ground to third before Cogan struck out Drew Miller and Buddy Morales to end the game.

With the series even at two wins apiece, the RailCats will turn to their ace on Sunday.  Glen, who beat Groeger in game two of the series Wednesday in Calgary, is 7-0 with a 1.62 earned run average in eight career post-season starts for the RailCats.  Over the 2006-'07 playoffs, Glen is 5-0 with a 0.44 ERA, allowing just two earned runs in 41 innings.
