Gary, Ind.—Gary SouthShore RailCats pitcher Willie Glen was selected today as the "Most Outstanding Player" of the 2007 Northern League Championship Series.

Glen was the winning pitcher in games two and five of the best-of-five series between the RailCats and Calgary Vipers, pitching his club to the league title.  In his two starts, he worked 17 of a possible 18 innings and allowed just two runs.  He surrendered just seven hits and struck out 20 while walking nine.

In Sunday afternoon's fifth and deciding game of the series, Glen pitched a complete game in the RailCats 5-1 victory, throwing 143 pitches while allowing just three hits.  He struck out 10 and walked six.

Glen went 4-0 with a 0.82 earned run average in the post-season for the RailCats, earning the win in four of the RailCats six victories.  In 33 innings, he allowed just three earned runs.

Over the 2006-'07 playoffs, Glen went 6-0 with a 0.54 ERA.  He worked a total of 50 innings and allowed only three earned runs.  Over his RailCats career, Glen is 8-0 in the post-season and 32-9 during the regular season.

Glen set the independent Northern League single-season strikeout record this year while going 12-1 for the RailCats.  Glen was also named 2007 Northern League Pitcher of the Year and was selected as the right-handed pitcher on the full-season Northern League All-Star Team.  He was also selected in a vote by his teammates as the RailCats "Most Inspirational Player" in 2007.
