GRIZZLIES TAKE SEASON SERIES FROM RASCALS

The Gateway Grizzlies got out to 9-0 lead Saturday night at GCS Ballpark, then held on for a 9-6 win over the River City Rascals.

The Grizzlies (63-29) got four runs in the first, including a three-run home run from Mike Breyman. Breyman crushed a 3-2 offering from Rascals' starter Steve Brook. Breyman's home run was the 58th of his Frontier League career, tying him with Scott Pinoni for third all-time in league history.

Brook (11-7) suffered the loss, giving up nine runs, seven earned, on ten hits over six innings. He struck out four and walked four.

Ryan Saltzgaber and Jonathan Armitage hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth to extend the lead to 7-0. Saltzgaber's homer was a two-run shot. It was the 10th time this season the Grizzlies have gone back-to-back.

Charlie Lisk hit a two-run home run in the fifth 9-0.

River City (36-59) scored four runs in the seventh to cut the lead to 9-4. Andy Bettis hit a three-run homer, and Ken Lup hit a solo shot in the inning. Bettis closed out the scoring with a solo home run in the ninth.

Toro Trevino (11-5) earned the win, pitching seven innings. He allowed four runs on four hits. He struck out five.
