Gary, Ind.—Willie Glen allowed just five hits over nine innings in a complete game performance as the Gary SouthShore RailCats defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes 3-1 on Saturday night in game four of the best-of-five Northern League semi-final playoff series.  The RailCats' victory evened the series at two wins apiece and forced a deciding game five on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in Gary.  A crowd of 1,441 attended the game at U. S. Steel Yard.

Glen struck out 10 and walked two as he picked up his second win of the series to keep the RailCats alive.  He pitched out of tough jams in the fourth and ninth innings to send the series to game five on Sunday.

The RailCats scored single runs in the first and third innings to take an early lead.  Jose Yepez singled in Jay Pecci from second with two outs in the first to make it 1-0, and Yepez delivered a one-out single in the third to bring in Eric Blakeley and extend the lead to 2-0.

Fehlandt Lentini led off the Winnipeg fourth with a single to left and Demond Smith walked.  Brent Metheny followed with a bloop double just over the outstretched glove of RailCats third baseman Tanner Townsend that brought in Lentini and moved Smith to third as Winnipeg pulled to within a run.  But with runners at second and third, Glen struck out Walter Young, Antoin Gray, and Aaron McEachran in order to end the threat.

Gary's Eric McNamee doubled to right with one out in the eighth to bring in Jermaine Allensworth from second to give the RailCats a 3-1 lead.

In the Winnipeg ninth, Smith singled to start the inning and Metheny walked to put the tying run at first with no one out.  But Young lined to Jay Pecci at short and Metheny was doubled off first base for the second out, and Gray grounded out to third to end the game.

The RailCats collected 13 hits but had a tough time scoring as they had two runners thrown out at the plate, two thrown out at third, and anther at second.

Travis Kerber (8-7, 4.75) will start for the RailCats on Sunday against Winnipeg's Brandon Kintzler (5-2, 4.07).  For tickets, call (219) 882-2255.
