HOME WARRIORS CLAIM VICTORY

 

The Bridgeport Bluefish were not able to show the heroics shown in last night’s game as they fell to the “Home” Road Warriors 9-5.  In commemoration of the Road Warriors last season the Bluefish honored the team that plays every game away by allowing them to play as the home team.

 

After a combined 24 runs in the past two games the ‘Fish could not find the bats to lead them past the Road Warriors.  Bobby Darula was the only one to claim a multi-hit game going three-for-four with a run scored.  Nick Ortiz, Luis Figueroa, Steve Hine and Johnny Hernandez all collected RBIs in the loss.

 

The Road Warriors have been honorary home team twice this season and won both games.  Five different Warriors collected multi-hit games with Steven Doetsch leading the way.  Doetsch finished two-for-three with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs.  Ex-Bluefish Fleming Baez also produced driving in three runs in the win.

 

Bluefish starting pitcher Matt Beech suffered his eighth loss of the season dropping his record to 12-8.  Beech threw six innings allowing eight runs on ten hits with six strikeouts.  Warriors’ starting pitcher Damien Myers picked up the win after seven innings of work allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits.
