PATRIOTS SILENCE ‘FISH
The Bridgeport Bluefish dropped their second game in a row to the Somerset Patriots losing 4-2. With a Long Island Ducks win along with the loss, the Bridgeport Bluefish have been eliminated from the playoff race.
The Bluefish bats were dormant in the loss with only six hits total. Jay Caligiuri had yet another solid game going two-for-two with an RBI along with Sandy DeLeon recording a multi-hit game going two-for-four. Nick Ortiz and Steve Hine were the only other ‘Fish with hits in the game with Johnny Hernandez walking in Jesse Hoorelbeke for the only other run.
Three Patriots picked up multi-hit games with Jason Romano, Brandon Larson, and Todd Leathers each with two. Larson drove in two of the four runs and scored one himself off of a Todd Leathers RBI. Patrick Boran knocked in the one other run.
Brian Adams recorded his league leading 15th win of the season after 6.2 innings of work and allowed only two runs on five hits. Rafael Bergstrom suffered his second loss in yet another good outing as he pitched 7.1 innings allowing only four runs, three earned, on seven hits. R.D. Spiehs closed out the game and picked up his 21st save of the season.
The Bluefish finish off the three-game series against the Somerset Patriots tomorrow at 7:05 P.M. Thursday is Thirsty Thursday at the ballpark with half-price beer, soda and popcorn.
