DIAZ DOES IT AGAIN!!! BIG PAPPA WITH FOUR RBI IN A 6-5 JACKHAMMERS VICTORY OVER SCHAUMBURG

 

JOLIET, IL-Juan Diaz went 3-4 with four RBI to lead the Joliet JackHammers (22-25) to a 6-5 victory over the Schaumburg Flyers (19-28) before 4,601 fans at Silver Cross Field on Saturday night. The JackHammers are on a season-high five game winning streak.

 

The Schaumburg Flyers scored two runs in the first inning against JackHammers right-hander Josh Regits (2-4). Alex Fonseca (1-4) led off the game with a walk and stole second base. Mike Rhode (1-4) grounded out to third base.

 

Christian Snavely (2-4) hit an RBI single to bring home Fonseca and give the Flyers a 1-0 lead..

 

Dario Delgado (1-5) hit an RBI single to score Snavely and make it a 2-0 Flyers lead.

 

The JackHammers responded with three runs in the first inning against Flyer starter Drew Dickinson (7-12). Cory Harris (2-4) led off the game with a double and went to third base on a single by Tim Hutting (1-3).

 

Diaz hit an RBI single to score Harris and move Hutting to second base. He advanced to third on a fielder’s choice by Jake Whitesides (0-4).

 

Chris Brown (1-4) hit a two-run single to score both runners and give the JackHammers a 3-2 lead.

 

The Flyers scored two runs on a two-run home run by Snavely in the third inning. Schaumburg had a one-run lead at 4-3.

 

The JackHammers quickly tied the ballgame with a solo home run by Diaz in the third inning. He hit a line drive home run over the right centerfield wall to tie the game at 4-4.

 

Joliet scored two more runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-4 lead. Nick Wayne (2-2) worked a two-out walk and went to second base on a single by Harris. Hutting walked to load the bases against Dickinson.


Diaz hit a two-run single to score Wayne and Harris and provide a two-run lead for the JackHammers.                           

 

Loose Gravel: Diaz now has 27 home runs on the season which is tied for the sixth-best single-season performance in the Northern League record books. Anthony Lewis from Duluth-Superior holds the all-time single season home run mark with 33 home runs set back in 2000.

 

The JackHammers finish the 2007 season on Sunday night against the Schaumburg Flyers at 5:05 p.m. Nate Sevier (12-4, 4.65) gets the start for Joliet against a yet-to-be determined starter for the Schaumburg Flyers.
