ROUSH, GRIZZLIES ROLL PAINTS

The Gateway Grizzlies scored five runs in the first inning, then cruised, behind a complete-game effort from starter Nathan Roush, to a 9-2 victory Friday. The win came in front of a season-high 6,092 fans at GCS Ballpark.

Roush (5-3) tossed his second complete game of the year, allowing the two runs on six hits.  He did not walk a batter and struck out four.

The Grizzlies (45-21) pushed five runs across on four hits in the first off Chillicothe starter Bryan Johnson.  Dustin Roberts, Josh Dietz, Ryan Saltzgaber and Manny Paula all had first inning RBIs.  Paula plated two with a double.  Paula was 2-4.

Mike Breyman hit a one-hopper over the right field wall to score Ryan Sullivan in the second inning to put the Grizzlies up 6-0.  Breyman scored Sullivan again in the fourth, this time with a sac fly, to make it 7-0 Grizzlies.

Roberts added his second RBI of the night in the sixth, again scoring Sullivan, with a single.  Roberts was 2-4 with two RBIs.  Sullivan was 1-2 with two walks and three runs.

Chillicothe (32-35) got their only two runs on three hits in the seventh inning.

Jonathan Armitage capped a great night with a solo home run in the eighth inning.  He finished the night 4-5 with the long ball, his ninth of the year.

The Grizzlies and Paints will play the "rubber match" of the three-game series Saturday night at GCS Ballpark.  Game time is 7:05 p.m.
