NEWARK, NJ August 22, 2007 With the game tied 2-2, second baseman Matt DeMarco led off the bottom of the eighth inning with a solo walk-off home run to propel the Camden Riversharks to a 3-2 victory over the Newark Bears on Wednesday morning at Campbells Field. The Bears have suffered back-to-back walk-off losses to the Riversharks and fall to 3-5 in extra inning games this season.
Bears closer Jason DiAngelo (2-8) took the loss after entering the game in the eighth. He was greeted by DeMarcos fourth home run of the season, which gave the Riversharks infielder his second walk-off RBI in as many days.
The Bears took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning. With two outs, Marcus Nettles hit an RBI triple to drive in third baseman Pat Peavey and then scored one batter later on a Camden error.
The Riversharks cut the Bears lead in half in the fifth on a two-out run-scoring single by shortstop Milko Jaramillo. Trailing 2-1 and down to its final two outs, Camden rallied off of Bears starter Jose Garcia. Brad Strauss walked and advanced to third on a single by third baseman Craig Paquette to set up catcher Josh Noviskeys game-tying RBI single. Garcia received a no-decision after pitching seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts.
Camden reliever Ramon Linares (3-2) picked up the win after retiring the final batter of the top half of the eighth.
Bears left-handed starter Jeriome Robertson will take the mound in game two of the doubleheader.

NEWARK, NJ August 22, 2007 First baseman Ryan Lehr singled to left to bring home the winning run as the Camden Riversharks defeated the Newark Bears 2-1 at Campbells Field on Wednesday morning. The Bears are now 4-11 against Camden this season, with all 11 losses having been decided by two runs or less, including three consecutive walk-off defeats.
Right-fielder Cristian Guerrero led off the Riversharks seventh with a double to left-center to set up Lehrs game-winning hit three batters later. Guerrero finished the game 2-for-3 with a single and a double.
The Bears grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the third on a two out RBI base hit by second baseman Ramon Castro. Castro led the Bears going 3-for-3 with two singles, a double, and the RBI. Camden centerfielder L.J. Biernbaum tied the game at one in the fourth with a solo home run, his 22nd of the year.
Both teams starting pitchers threw complete games. Winning pitcher Ryan Schurman allowed one run on six hits and no walks, striking out three. The Bears Jeriome Robertson surrendered two runs on eight hits and a walk. He struck out four.
The Bears will return home on Thursday for a three game series with the York Revolution. The Bears will hand the ball to right-handed starter Harold Eckert (2-0), who will be opposed by York left-hander Chris Steinborn (7-11). First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 PM.
