Joliet, Ill.—Nate Sevier tossed eight strong innings to earn his 12^th win of the season as the Joliet JackHammers defeated the Gary SouthShore RailCats 7-2 on Tuesday night before a crowd of 3,704, snapping the RailCats winning streak at eight straight games. The game was a make-up contest caused by a rain-out on August 19^th.

Sevier (12-4) allowed six hits and two runs while walking no one and striking out two to move into a tie for the league lead in victories with Fargo-Moorhead's Dane Renkert.

The RailCats took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Mike Reese tripled with two outs and scored on Tanner Townsend's single. Joliet tied the game in the third when Cory Harris delivered a two-out single to bring in Matt Mazurek from second base to make it 1-1.

In the fourth, Joliet rallied against RailCats starter Travis Kerber (7-7) o take a 3-1 lead. Dennis Blackmon singled in Derek Nicholson with one out, and Chris Brown followed with a sacrifice fly to bring in Jake Whitesides to give the JackHammers a two run lead.

The RailCats pulled to within one in the fifth when Nate Price singled, stole second, and scored on Eric McNamee's single to make it 3-2, but Gary could get no closer.

It was still a 3-2 game until Joliet scored four times in the bottom of the eighth against RailCats reliever Steve Edsall. Tim Hutting's two-run single was the key hit in the inning.

Mike Reese and Tanner Townsend each had two hits for Gary. Kerber suffered the loss, allowing nine hits and three runs over six and two-thirds innings with one walk and three strikeouts.

The RailCats enter their final five game series of the season need one win to establish a new club record for victories in a season. The RailCats will play at Kansas City on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. in the first game of a five game series. Josh Habel (11-6, 3.11) will start for Gary.

Notes: The RailCats are 15-5 over the last 20 games…RailCats outfielder Dale Mueller made his first professional appearance as a pitcher in the eighth inning, facing three batters and recording the final out of the inning. He hit a batter and allowed an infield single before a fly out to run to retire the side.
