Gary, Ind.—Jason Shelley allowed only one unearned run over six and one-third innings and Eric McNamee delivered three hits and scored two runs as the Gary SouthShore RailCats defeated the Kansas City T-Bones 7-1 before a crowd of 1,617 at U. S. Steel Yard on Wednesday night.  The RailCats' win snapped their five game losing streak and ended the T-Bones five game winning streak.

Gary took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, the RailCats first lead in a game since last Thursday.  McNamee led off with a double to left-center before T-Bones starting pitcher Rick DeHart issued back-to-back walks to Jay Pecci and Tanner Townsend to load the bases with no one out.  Steve Haake grounded to first and Townsend was forced at second as McNamee scored, but the throw back to first to try to complete the double play by shortstop Geoff McCallum got away and Pecci also scored on the play to make it 2-0.

Kansas City got on the board against Shelley in the third when Mario Delgado delivered a two-out run-scoring single to make it 2-1.

Jose Yepez led off the RailCats sixth inning with a double to left and one batter later, Mike Reese walked.  Eric Blakeley then delivered the big hit in the game, a double to the fence in left-center field that brought in both Yepez and Reese to give the RailCats a 4-1 lead.  Gary added one more run in the seventh and two more in the eighth to close out the scoring.

RailCats reliever Brad Mumma pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the seventh with the RailCats leading at the time 4-1.  He struck out big-hitting Mario Delgado with the tying runs aboard.

Shelley (4-3) provided his best outing of the season, allowing just four hits and an unearned run before departing with one out in the seventh.  He walked three and struck out four to earn the win.  It may have been an especially satisfying victory for Shelley, who allowed 12 runs in a game at Kansas City on June 7th.

DeHart (0-1), in his first appearance with Kansas City, suffered the loss.  He allowed five hits and four runs (three earned) in six innings, walking six and striking out three.

The RailCats host the T-Bones again Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Steel Yard.  Travis Kerber (4-5, 4.14) will start for Gary against Kansas City's Chris Krawczyk (4-2, 5.09).

Notes:  In addition to breaking their losing streak, the RailCats ended a string of nine consecutive games in which they had scored three runs or less…The two-run double by Blakeley ended a 2 for 30 slump for the RailCats utility man…The RailCats are 17-2 when scoring at least four runs at home in 2007.
