GRIZZLIES USE 11 INNINGS TO BEAT OTTERS
Jonathan Armitage hit a one-out walkoff home run in the bottom of the 11th inning Tuesday night as the Gateway Grizzlies defeated the Evansville Otters 8-7 in 11 innings. The win is the Grizzlies' 60th of the season.
Billy McKinney (1-2) earned his first professional win, after pitching the top of the 11th. McKinney gave up a pair of hits, and struck out one. Evansville (33-56) left the bases loaded in the inning.
The Grizzlies led 7-6 before Evansville tied the game with a run in the top of the eighth inning.
Manny Paula led the way for the Grizzlies from the plate. Paula was 3-5 with two doubles and two RBIs. Ryan Sullivan hit his 10th home run of the year in the second inning to give the Grizzlies a 3-2 lead. Sullivan became the seventh Grizzlies player with double digit figures in home runs.
Toro Trevino started for the Grizzlies and went 5.1 innings. He allowed six runs on eight hits. He walked three and struck out four.
The Grizzlies and the Otters will conclude the short two-game set with a 7:05 game Wednesday night at GCS Ballpark.
