GRIZZLIES REACH MILESTONE

The Gateway Grizzlies welcomed their one-millionth fan to GCS Ballpark Wednesday evening. Kristina Lynn from Highland, IL was greeted with confetti, balloons, and doves as she walked through the gates.

"I'm excited and overjoyed", said Lynn. "Never in a million years would I have expected to be the millionth fan."

With Wednesday evening's crowd of 5,448, the Grizzlies have drawn 1,004,388 fans for their history. That total includes the previous five seasons at GCS Ballpark as well as the inaugural season at Sauget Field.

The milestone makes the Grizzlies the third Frontier League team to hit the million-fan plateau. The Evansville Otters and River City Rascals are the two others. Of the three franchises, the Grizzlies have reached the million-fan milestone the quickest, achieving it in their seventh season. River City did it in eight seasons while Evansville reached it in 11.

For Kristina, she became an instant millionaire. . .in Vietnam. She received 1,000,000 Vietnamese Dong. Along with the money, she also received two 10-game mini-plan packages for the 2008 Gateway Grizzlies season, a custom made Grizzlies home jersey, a team autographed ball and bat, plus a $100.00 gift certificate for use inside Izzy's Den. Lynn also spent a half-inning on air with Grizzlies broadcaster Joe Pott

"This is a great night for us," Grizzlies General Manager Tony Funderburg said. "Whether you have been to every game or tonight was your first, we appreciate all of our fans. This milestone seals itÂ…We have the greatest fans in baseball."
