GRIZZLIES DROWN OTTERS
 
The Gateway Grizzlies banged out 21 hits Saturday night, en route to a 17-7 win over the Evansville Otters in front of 4,187 at Bosse Field in Evansville, Ind.
 
The win improved the Grizzlies to a franchise-best 28 games over the .500 mark at 51-27.  The win also lowered the Grizzlies "magic number" to win the West Division to eight games.
 
The Otters drop to 30-45.
 
Gateway scored five runs in the third and six in the seventh to pace the offensive outpour.  Manny Paula capped the third with a three-run home run.  His 10th of the year made it 24 consecutive games with a home run for the club.  They have now hit a league-high 118 for the year.
 
Paula was 3-6 with the homer and a game-high four RBIs.  Stephen Holdren was 3-6 with three RBIs and three runs.  Jonathan Armitage was 3-4 with three RBIs and three runs.  Dustin Roberts was 3-3 with an RBI and three runs.  Ryan Sullivan was 3-4 with two RBIs.
 
Jason Herman (3-1) earned the win for the Grizzlies.  Herman went seven innings allowing three runs on seven hits.  He struck out four, but walked five.  Billy McKinney and Brian Logan each surrendered two runs in an inning of work apiece.
 
The Grizzlies and Otters conclude the series with a 6:05 game Sunday night at Bosse Field in Evansville.
