Gary, Ind.—The Winnipeg Goldeyes scored six runs in the eighth inning to come from behind and defeat the Gary SouthShore RailCats 6-3 on Thursday night before a crowd of 4,141 at U. S. Steel Yard. The Goldeyes won two of three games in the series.

RailCats starting pitcher Josh Habel was outstanding over seven innings, allowing just two hits and no runs as Gary built a 2-0 lead. Habel walked four and struck out two and allowed only three runners past first base in his outing.

But the Goldeyes roughed up the Gary bullpen in the eighth. Trailing 2-0, Fehlandt Lentini started the inning with a base hit to right against reliever Steve Edsall. Brad Mumma (1-3) replaced Edsall and gave up a single to center to Anton French that moved Lentini to third. After Chris Latham struck out, Walter Young singled to center to drive in Lentini and make it 2-1. Antoin Gray was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and Brent Metheny followed with a big two-run single to give Winnipeg a 3-2 lead. The Goldeyes added another run on Corey Stang's ground out, and Max Poulin capped the rally with a two-run single to make it 6-2.

The RailCats scored once in the bottom of the ninth and had the tying run in the on deck circle when Goldeyes closer Matt Davis came on to get the final two outs and earn his 16^th save.

Winnipeg starting pitcher Mike Kusiewicz (4-2) earned the win, allowing nine hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings. He walked no one and struck out four.

The RailCats scored one run in the third on Jose Yepez's RBI single and one more in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Tanner Townsend to take a two run lead but lost for the fifth time in six games on the homestand.

The RailCats will open a three game set at Joliet at 7:05 p.m. on Friday. Gary's Jason Shelley (3-2, 6.99) will get the start. The RailCats return home on Tuesday.
