Evansville, IN - Evansville and Windy City locked up in a fantastic
pitchers duel tonight. The Otters got six innings out of recently signed
pitcher Stephen Obenchain, who allowed two hits and struck out seven. The
Thunderbolts' Billy Phillips who threw eight innigs, allowed just five
hits, and struck out four hitters. The game was scoreless through the
first nine frames, when, in the top of the tenth, the leadoff hitter
Phillip Hawke drilled a pitch from closer Mike Bille over the right field
wall for a solo shot and the only run of the ball game. The Otters went
in order in the bottom of the frame and fall to 31-49 on the season.
Evansville will hook up with Windy City tomorrow at 7:05 in game two of
this six game home stand.
