‘FISH OPEN HOMESTAND WITH WIN

 

There was a revolution tonight in Bridgeport.  Both the Bridgeport Bluefish and York Revolution chopped away at the ball sporadically scoring runs until the Bluefish awoke in the bottom of the eighth.  Bridgeport took the win in the first game of a three game series by a score of 8-6 against the Revolution. 

Left fielder Quinton McCracken contributed to the win with a base hit up the middle in the first inning.  McCracken later scored off of the bat of his teammate, first baseman Jesse Hoorelbeke and then again in the bottom of the second on a wild pitch thrown by York’s Bryan Edwards.

The Revolution showed some signs of energy as they scattered double plays throughout the game in the second, fourth and seventh innings.  Center fielder Justin Singleton hit an RBI triple followed by an RBI single by Matt Dryer which tied the game in the top of the eighth.

Bluefish short stop Nick Ortiz answered Singleton and Dryer’s hits with a lead off triple to begin the bottom of the eighth.  Quinton McCracken followed his teammate across the plate with a homerun to cement Bridgeport’s lead.   

After giving up 11 hits, York’s starting pitcher Bryan Edwards was relieved by Jeff Farnsworth in the bottom of the seventh.  Farnsworth took the loss.

Bridgeport pitcher Nick Bierbrodt took over the pitching duties from starter Steven Kent in the sixth. Eddy Ramos came in for the win with one out in the eighth inning, improving his record to 3-4.
